SCAD students win number of Asian design awards

HONG KONG - Several SCAD students recently earned top honors in Asia for their creative design work.

SCAD Hong Kong undergraduate graphic design student Ka Wing Leung won three awards at the 12th Footwear Design Competition Hong Kong in January 2012 with her creation "Tsar Egg." The awards included "Ladies' Shoes and Bags Category Champion," "Belle Overall Champion" and "Classical Most Charming Award." Organized by the Federation of Hong Kong Footwear Ltd., and co-organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the Footwear Design Competition Hong Kong honors design talents and works to enhance the industry standard and creativity of footwear design.

SCAD Hong Kong undergraduate graphic design student Jessica Lai recently was named one of two overall winners for the Hong Kong Arts Festival Young Friends 2012 Arts Diary Cover Design Competition. Graphic design students Julia Pak and Becky Wu both placed as finalists as well.

SCAD Savannah undergraduate illustration student Julia Huang and alumna Nina Weber (M.F.A., illustration, 2011) have been awarded a Certificate of Excellence in the Best Illustration (Student) category in the Second Greater China Illustration Awards. Their work will be exhibited at an awards ceremony at the end of February 2012.
